How to become a Trained Security Guard

Quite a few people want to make a career into security. If you are amongst them and the charm of seeing yourself in uniform lures you, then read on as we provide you with some tips to become a security guard. Security guard is a profession that involves guarding assets or life of an individual. His primary objective is to make sure that the life or property of the person he is working for remains secured. There a few training organizations such as Security Industry Authority (SIA) that provide security guard training to people who are aspiring to become one.

The aspiring candidates, however, are supposed to meet certain eligibility criteria before they can be enrolled for security training. The candidate must be at least 18 years of age. Background of the candidate is thoroughly checked as he or she must not have any criminal records.

The enrolled candidates are then supposed to undergo classroom as well as field training to become licensed security guards. The candidates are provided training in a wide variety of fields which includes physical training, handling of arms, public relations and handling of emergencies. The guards who are adept in handling of arms and ammunitions receive a higher pay than other guards.

Once the training is complete, the security guard training agencies provide the enrolled candidates with a license, which is also known as guard card in certain parts of the world. The card contains information such as age, background and grades obtained during training. The information helps employers to ascertain the quality and background of security guards applying at their organizations.
